MSO Free Concerts

MSO Free Concerts

For those who aren’t already aware, the MSO hold a free concert series every summer in February at the Sidney Myer music bowl, located in the Kings Domain Gardens. The first of these this year will be held Wednesday the 8th at 7:30pm, but you can arrive any time from 4:30 to grab a spot, get settled, and even enjoy a picnic before the concerts begin.

It’s always a great atmosphere, and the unintimidating, casual outside environment offers the perfect opportunity for families and young children to be exposed to such music they may not have otherwise considered had it been held within the confines of Hamer Hall.

The concerts feature some fantastic music this year - including Rachmaninoff’s second Piano Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, and Stravinsky's Petrushka amongst some other great works. All the dates and full program information can be found here:

So bring a picnic rug, some food, and your family and friends, and take this fantastic opportunity to hear music by some of the world’s greatest composers, played by some of Australia’s best musicians.

Oh, and it’s free!
