Concert Recommendation: Invenio 'Luminesce'

Concert Recommendation: Invenio 'Luminesce'

Thursday 18 May 2017 7pm - Melbourne Recital Centre Salon

I have sung with this incredible ensemble for the past few years, but alas I couldn’t be a part of this performance! This specific show, “Luminesce”, is a truly unique experience that I can’t recommend highly enough. The music is composed by one of Australia’s best and most influential jazz artists, Gian Slater, who also performs as one of the ensemble members in the seven singer group. She teamed up with video artist Robert Jarvis, and together they have created a stunning audio-visual extravaganza.

Each of the performer’s mic’s are connected to a light projector, and the singer’s voices trigger (in real time) light projections onto their bodies. All of the music is composed with visual effects in mind, and much of the music plays with symmetry, rhythmic patterns of light and dark, colour and harmony.

It is incredibly difficult music to perform (and this is not helped by having a really bright light flash in your face every time you make a sound!), so I’ll be happy to be able to relax in the audience this time around. “Luminesce” is truly something special, completely one of a kind and I implore you to see it for yourself. It will blow you away!

See you there, Luara.
